| Hi All,
Having a real bad time with water leaking in at the back of the car, took the back seat out to find an inch of water sloshing around, capets are pi**ed wet through. Checked sunroof drains etc where now?

| Well it depends on what etc is The rear windscreen (windshield) if you are from the US, is a good bet, the metal rots in a few places along this back edge and water could find itself along the rearparcel shelf, is the shelf wet? Also the screen rubber seal could have shrunk? Rubber seals around doors? Have you taken the rear seat out? perhaps a floor bung has deteriorated? I personally would be tempted to remove rear seats and parcel shelf, sit on the floor and have someone hose down the back and the roof of the car while you inside. Do not be fooled into thinking that water ONLY goes with gravity Wind vortex while driving COULD create a Capilliary action and draw water upward past a seal... just a thought if the hose pipe doesnt show anything. Keep us posted |

| Hi,
Seat is out, how does the parcel shelf come out? If the seal has shrunk? can we get replacements?

| The parcel shelf behind the seats needs some care to avoid splitting it where the speakers are. It slides forward once you have unclipped the side panels that are in the way. You only have to undo the screws that are holding the compartment latches on the shelf. Window seals are all available at MB or your local glass repair. The seals are also put in with a mastic and this could have dried out so it might be a case of take out and clean up then remastic NOT SILICONE. Have you tried running water over the sun roof and down the drip pipes just to make sure they are working?

| Stating the obvious too I am sure you have checked all the round floor bungs are sealed okay? Check especially where the wheel arches meet the doors and if there are any shound deadening patches as they might hide a rust hole underneath... Best of luck |

| Oh well at least you found it. What part is rusted, the bit that comes off the gully? Thats a bit of delicate welding there I think! The only thing I can think of is maybe insert a liner, something that will pass the rusted area and seal at the top with a flare of some sort? Can you get a photo of the offending part? |

| Well it's going to be getting the time to get on with it thats the problem, does the part with the integral drain tubes come off on it own or is it part of the whole thing? I am fortunate to share a building with a fabrication company who also just happen to be 'Petrol heads' they make lots of things for Landy's, Lancia Stratos chassis and build Comp Safari racers! so my little problem will be 'nowt' Torque Performance 4X4 entertaining video on the website.
Once fixed it may be a good thing to take all the carpet out and clean & dry it out of car? |

| I am afraid it is like a tray with the centre missing, it all comes out in one, this one is close enough There are 4 drain tubes |

| Ah, but does that part come off on it's own, just a tray? as the photo shows? that would be good if I don't have to take the whole sunroof out?

| To be really honest, I dont think this will come out without removing everything, although a pain it is not a difficult job, just be methodical It all unbolts from above on the generation2s [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] border="0" alt="" /> |

| Well, I am planning to take the old U boat over to my works on Friday and have a proper look in the dry workshop. Don't have enough room to leave it in so will have to be a bit of a recci first. Thanks for the diagram.
